What is Pilates?
Pilates is a workout for the whole body. It conditions, elongates and strengthens muscles, while increasing joint mobility, all to improve posture, coordination and flexibility. A well-designed Pilates class will prove that effective exercise is about the quality of movement and not just the quantity.
At the Core of Your Body
Did you know that you have about 30 different muscles that comprise your Core?!
From the inner unit of deep stabilizers near the spine, to the outer unit of muscles around the torso, all these core muscles work together to hold your posture, maintain your balance and keep your torso stable while your limbs are moving. In other words, every move you make is powered by the torso; your core muscles work together to support the spine whenever you sit, stand, bend, turn, stretch or exercise. So, whether you are running, biking, or picking up a toddler, these core muscles keep you stabilized and balanced. If your core muscles are weak, your body does not work as effectively and this often results in injuries.
If your core muscles are strong it means that you will stand straighter, look leaner, improve your balance and coordination, develop more power and strength during other athletics, be more flexible, and be less prone to injuries.
The core is truly the powerhouse for your body: the stronger your core, the stronger you will be!

Our Approach
The “Historical Approach” to Pilates usually involves strictly teaching the Classical Exercises that Joseph Pilates’ created in the early 20th century. Many participants find these classes incredibly repetitive and far too challenging. As a result, the average person is often unable to safely or adequately execute these moves and unknowingly compensates by using the wrong muscles in order to complete the exercise.
Instead, Adore Your Core follows an “Evolved Approach” to Functional Pilates which enables the client to build strength, core control and flexibility with precise movements throughout a wide variety of full-body exercises. Many of the exercises are often based on the Classical repertoire; however, they also break-down the moves to provide endless variety, a higher degree of safety, and an emphasis on the quality of each movement in order to achieve incredible benefits for your body. This allows the difficulty level of each class to be tailored to the client’s abilities and personal goals.
